Finding and keeping talented workers is one of the biggest challenges facing employers in the Detroit region.  Greg Handel will share insights into the dimensions of the issue and what area employers are doing about it.

Greg is the Vice President, Education and Talent, for the Detroit Regional Chamber.  In this role he is responsible for the Chamber’s efforts to ensure that employers have access to the talent needed to thrive in the 21st century global environment.

Handel oversees Detroit Drives, a regional initiative designed to increase the percentage the adults throughout the region with a quality postsecondary degree and reduce the racial equity gap in degree attainment.  He is also responsible for the Detroit Promise, which offers a tuition-free pathway for every Detroit high school graduate who resides in the city.  In addition, he plays leadership roles in education policy development and advocacy as well as talent retention and attraction initiatives.

Greg serves on the Boards of the Michigan College Access Network and Detroit College Access Network, Trillium Public Schools Academy, Global Detroit and numerous other committee, advisory boards, and partnerships dedicated to improving educational outcomes across the region and the state.

Handel earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics at University of Detroit Mercy.  He is also a graduate of the US Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organizational Management and the Center for Creative Leadership.
