Christie recently retired from the GPFPE Board- but has agreed to give The TRAILS SEED Grant presentation to the Men’s Club that she presented at GPFPE’s Spring Benefit. The Benefit raised funds in support of SEED. SEED stands for Social Emotional Encouragement and Development and facilitates programs targeting the emotional and mental health of students and teachers. As GPFPE Vice President and Grant Committee Co-Chair, Christie was responsible for the coordination of the grant program.

The GPFPE is a nonprofit organization that provides private funding for academic and enrichment programs for the Grosse Pointe Public School System. It partners with the community to ensure students have access to in person and virtual education that meets the standards of the district. GPFPE provides teachers, students, and parents the ability to apply for grants that assist students with programs in arts and music, foreign language, reading comprehension, STEM, math and science, programs for special needs students, and other program enhancement opportunities.      Since the inception of the GPFPE in 2006, almost four million dollars has been awarded to support school enhancement programs.

Christie graduated from South and earned an undergraduate degree in elementary education from Boston College. Christie and her late husband, Pat, raised four children, Samantha, Allissa, Tyler, and Casey.

Christie also runs The Patrick and Christie Coggin Foundation which funds educational scholarships as well as many other charitable needs in our community and beyond.
