Conservatory on Belle Isle

“A thing of beauty is a joy forever,” says John Keats. Well maybe not forever, but the Conservatory on Belle Isle has plenty of beauty to show. Our city’s gem is often overlooked by us locals, but fourteen of us did go to visit on the 18th of this month.
We first entered a tropical jungle. It had bright fruit glowing in dark foliage as well as flowers with strange shapes and colors. As we wound around to the other side of this large refurnished structure we found a dry western desert with its variety of bristling cacti.
All a kind of wonderland.
Most of us went on from Belle Isle to Sindbad’s—still doing it’s fine job and celebrating its seventy-fifth anniversary year.
If you did not make this event, ask a member who did. All we talked to said they had an excellent time.
