On Thursday, April 24,2025, an adventuresome group of fourteen Men’s Club members and their guests made their way to the manufacturing complex that was begun by Henry Ford himself in 1917.
Our group took a fifteen-minute bus ride from the Ford Museum to the factory complex. The scale of the place continues to amaze. On the property there are ten or twelve plants all making parts for cars and trucks.
Our tour started with three interesting films, on wide screens, giving the history of manufacturing in the plants. Next came our walk around the balcony of the plant that builds the best-selling Ford F-150 truck.
We watched from above as a moving track with men and machines turned out one truck a minute. That’s 2,400 trucks a day! Would not Henry Ford be proud?
A fine lunch at the museum topped off our visit.
If you were not able to make this event, do try to see the plant in the near future. As for those who took the tour— the ones we talked to gave it a big thumbs up!
Hope to see many of you at our next special event, soon to be announced.
Pictures in the factory were not permitted, but you can see a few taken on the bus and at lunch here: Ford Rouge Factory Tour 2025
