The Christmas Spirit, that holiday glow, can be an elusive thing. But it did get a wonderful boost at the Men’s Club Christmas party at Bayview Yacht on December 18th.
The memory lingers on—perhaps first is the club itself. The modernized Bayview had a giant festive Christmas tree in the entrance hall. And in both dining rooms the tables were decorated by colorful centerpieces.
We were soon greeted by our president, Dan Clark, a last-minute stand in for the ailing Ed Wolking. (Get well soon, Ed). Then we were reminded of the real meaning of the season as an inspiring invocation was given by the Reverend Eddie Bray.
A long table of delicious hot food was set up out in the hall, as we had 99 folks and not enough room to accommodate this feast in the dining room.
Holiday music arranged by our ever-cheerful Dr. Drey, played as we dined. A featured event came next. Bill Solomon introduced the Men’s Club choir. Ron Pietronni played the piano with his usual great skill to accompany the well-practiced choir. They sang old favorite Christmas melodies followed by everyone joining in a sing-along.
The people up front almost forgot the door prize drawing, but fortunately they were reminded by someone’s good wife.
Was there dancing too? Yes, folks forgot their ages for a bit and moved like teenagers on the floor.
One more thing. Did you notice the fancy dresses of the ladies, Santa hats, and great outfits on some of the guys?
