Tom Gage and Lance Parrish talk Tigers at Oct 22 Meeting

Tom Gage, Detroit Tigers beat writer for 36 years, accompanied by Lance Parrish, former Detroit Tigers catcher who helped lead his team to the 1984 World Series championship, spoke to the Club on October 22nd. They were promoting their new book, The Enchanted Season: The Inside story of the Detroit Tigers' Unforgettable 1984 Season. Gage and Parrish told stories about the season and the Tigers' players, including Jack Morris, Allan Trammel, Kirk Gibson, Lou Whittaker and others, as well as Manager Sparky Anderson. The Tigers led the American League East from start to finish – starting the season 35-5 and finishing with 104 wins to take the division by 15 games. They topped Kansas City in the ALCS and the San Diego Padres in the World Series to capture Detroit’s first World Series Crown since 1968.
