At 11:30 AM on September 26th a giant tour bus appeared in front of the War Memorial. A goodly number of Men’s Club members and their guests, (somewhat diminished by the cold bug going around) were greeted by our friendly driver, Matt. By noon we were off on our free trip to the DIA, one of the great museums of the world.
There was time for lunch at the cafeteria with its excellent and diverse bill of fare.
Next, we were led to the theatre for a unique musical concert by the Djangophonique. This group of three led off with what they called Parisian jazz. But they played familiar songs and were soon joined by a vocalist with astonishing range, Katie Smith.
They were given a standing ovation.
The feature exhibit this year was The ART of DINING: Food Culture in the Islamic World. Over two hundred works from the Middle East, Egypt and South Asia were displayed. Our DIA does a remarkable presentation.
As we boarded the bus at 3:00 PM we received some very tasty cookies and bottles of water as a parting gift from the DIA.
Going by the comments of departing passengers, a very excellent time was had by all.
Please do try to join us for our next Special Event. Just check our website for full information.
These events provide a good deal of what the Men’s Club is all about: Fun, Festivities and Fellowship.
